Kumar Pariyar, 33 years old, residing at Chorepatan, Ward -17 Pokhara, is a heart patient recently diagnosed with the case of DCM. Pariyar, who grew up in an underprivileged joint family with a single mother, has been struggling for a few years, barely able to support his big family. After being diagnosed with Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), a condition in which the heart's ability to pump blood is decreased; he’s battled with ultimate weight loss, chest pains and fatigue leading to several heart complications. With recurring symptoms of palpitations and fainting, dealing with heart problems at such a young age has been very hard for him.
After visiting a couple of hospitals for his treatment, he was finally referred to Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara for his further treatment. He came to know about how Jayanti Memorial Trust has been helping economically marginalized cardiac patients for the treatment of cardiac cases. Fortunately, his case was tested and identified within a few weeks which allowed him to take medications at the initial phase. With the financial support from JMT, Kumar is being provided with medicines of worth NRs 3000 on a monthly basis. On inquiring about his current status, he said “ As I am unable to work, it is very frustrating to see my younger brother struggling to earn a living for us. Now that my health is improving, I am hopeful that I’ll recover soon and help to ease the financial burden of my family.”
Hence, the patient's daily condition is monitored and appropriate management was undertaken to control the patient's condition. Kumar believes that the support provided by JMT has helped him heal physically, rebuild hope and has reduced his financial stress. In addition to that, he thanked JMT for its continuous support and constant reassurance.
