Upon being interviewed by the Trust, Jamuna Magars mother says “I do not want seek help from my cousin for my daughter treatment as they are already sponsoring her education”.
Jamuna Magar, 12 from Gulariya district Bardiya requires closure of a whole in a heart. Student of grade 5 have two siblings aged 1o years and 7 years respectively. Her parents divorce left the family financially and emotionally vulnerable. Her second marriage was no boon, as they were constantly subjected to domestic violence. Currently her step father is imprisoned for domestic violence, leaving her mother to generate income by cultivating on their cousin land. Jamuna being a bright student, her education is being sponsored by their cousin living in USA. Jamuna’s mother further states “We found out about Jamuna suffering from heart disease but what kind was not clear until we came to this camp”. Jamuna Magar has been brought to Kathmandu by the Trust and has under gone surgery at Shahid Ganga Lal National Heart Center (SGHNC).
