General Health Camp, Pyuthan

 General Health, Eye, and Maternity Camp

Aim: To provide free health service to the eye, maternity and other patients of Sarumarani Gaupalika (Rural municipality) with the specialist's consultants.

Upon the sincere request from the Sarumarani Gaupalika to conduct the General Health Camp, Dr. Kashim Shah, Sr. Program Manager from Nick Simon Institute approached Jayanti Memorial Trust to support for the camp. Since, the long-run relation of Dr. Kashim Shah,  NSI and Jayanti Memorial Trust has built up very strong in undertaking many workshops for the medical officer from around Kaski district, undoubtedly, the collaboration had brought the same input for the camp. Jayanti Memorial Trust supported in making the medicines available for free of cost to the patients during the camp held on Sarumarani Gaupalika, Pyuthan. Following are the descriptions of the Pyuthan Camp.

Briefing of the camps:

1.     With the coordination from Narendra Gayatri Prastabit Eye Hospital, Bijuwar, Pyuthan, the camp was organized successfully on 13th Magh 2074 at Janata Secondary School Badh-daanda, with the hospital’s technical assistance. During the camp, 180 patients were examined for their eyes and another necessary check-up. Among them, 27 patients were diagnosed with the need to operate their eyes which was conducted on 9 & 10th Falgun 2074 in the premises of Eye operation camp that was held on Bijutar. 7 of the patients were referred to well facilitate Eye Hospital and others are distributed with the medicines. The Eye-camp was conducted successfully.

2.     With the coordination of Dr. Kashim Shah, Sr. Program Manager from Nick Simon Institute, Dr. Achyut Karki, and Dr. Samir Lama, the  Health Camp was arranged for the maternity disease and general check-up in the premises of Janata Secondary School, Badh-daanda. All the three doctors were assisted by the two lab technicians from the National lab pathology of Dang, six health assistants from Health organization of Sarumarani Gaupalika, one office assistant, one public health officer. Furthermore, the camp was assisted by Shree Siddhi Mani Subedi, an authorized member from Gaupalika Health office and Pyuthan Municipality, and other five helpers.

Findings fromt the camp that was held on 3rd March 2018

·        3 patients were referred to Kohalpur Medical College- Nepalgunj for their tertiary treatment and operation of the womb

·        67 were infected with P.I.D.

·        28 were diagnosed with cardiac ailments patients of which 5 of the patients referred to Kathmandu.

·        12 patients were diagnosed with the issue of gynecology.

·        12 patients were suspected with diseases relating reproductive system.

·        11 were diabetes patients

·        23 were orthopedic patient

·        53 were gastritis patient

·        All in all, 366 patients were treated and examined.

There was notable coordination from Public Health Office - Pyuthan and it’s Public Health Officer on both the Eye-Maternity Camp and General Health Camp. On both the camps, there were notable support and assistance from Swastha Khabar News and Dr. Kashim Shah.

3.     With this camp, the locals of Sarumarani Gaupalika were supported with not just health services but also with the backings of getting their financial burden reduced. The worth of amount costing for medicines, checkup, test, operation, doctors, and health assistance fee were all provided for free of cost.
