Continuing Medical Education, Pokhara

CME is crucial to the prosperity of health care providers—it allows a practitioner to learn and discover viable ways to improve on the patient care they deliver and effectively manage a career in the ever-changing landscape of the medical industry. JMT gives strong emphasis to CME’s not just for nurses but the physicians as well.  Thus, this one-day event took place at Pokhara at Hotel Square on the 15th of November, 2019. The physicians' conference on “Improving Care in Cardiothoracic Diseases” highlighted perspectives on various burning issues like Adult congenital heart diseases, Lung cancer, Aortic Surgery, etc. Attending such events also provided the participants a great opportunity to refine skills, network with other providers, and find solutions to problems experienced in practice.

     The various topics presented by the experts are as follows :

  1. Adult Congenital Heart Diseases – Castigliano Bhamidipati, DO, Ph.D., MSc- Assistant Professor of Surgery, Oregon Health and Science University
  2. Data Reporting and Measuring Outcomes- Dr. Frederick Grover, MD, Professor Emeritus-Adult Cardiac Surgeon
  3. Shock State- David Campbell, MD, Congenital CT Surgery Director- Paediatric Heart Transplant Program
  4. Lung Cancer- John Mitchell, MD, General Thoracic Surgeon, Head of General Thoracic Surgery
  5. Aortic Surgery- Jay Pal, MD, Adult Cardiac Surgeon at CU

The program witnessed a total number of 89 physicians and nurses from different institutions and hospitals in Pokhara. Out of the total participants, most of the attendees were from Pokhara Academy of Health Science and Western Regional Hospital whereas some of them were from Gandaki Medical College and Manipal College of Medical Sciences.
