Jayanti Memorial Trust has been conducting the cardiac camp in Pokhara every once in a year for many years now. This year too, the teams from the University of Colorado, Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center and Jayanti Memorial Trust have jointly conducted cardiac camp in Pokhara. The Western Regional Hospital, Pokhara, provided us the campsite and trust is thankful for it. The main purpose of this free heart camp was to provide follow-up consultation to the patients that have already been diagnosed with cardiac ailments. The patients participated in the camp traveled from around the district such as Parbat, Tanahu, Myagdi, and Baglung. The camp has lessened the travel cost burden that would have been required by the patients to travel to the capital for their further follow-up consultation. Even new patients were screened to identify patients that might possess symptoms of cardiac ailments.
Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Bhagawan Koirala, the skilled cardiac doctors and the team from MCVTC were involved in this camp. Also, the experts from the University of Colorado contributed their time and effort in this camp. The team screened 507 patients that day and the major findings were:
