Cardiac Camp, Palpa

With the technical support from the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center and from the local partner, Lions Club of Palpa, Jayanti Memorial Trust could jointly conduct one-day free cardiac camp in Palpa. In total 12 members from the MCVTC led to the camp which was headed by Dr. Bhagwan Koirala.

The camp was held on 11th of Kartik followed by short interaction program with the local dignitaries. The camp received a good response where approximately 800 patients were screened for the cardiac ailments and among which 15 patients were referred for their tertiary treatment to MCVTC. The camp provided free ECHO, ECG, and medicines.

The findings of the camp conducted on 11th of Kartik 2074 ( 28th of October 2017) were:

  1. The total number of patients screened for any cardiac ailments was 800.
  2. 15 patients were identified with a cardiac problem of which 6 were diagnosed with the need for Cardiothoracic Vascular Surgery and four were diagnosed with the need for cardiology treatment like angioplasty and pacemaker implantation
  3. 142 patients were found to be hypertensive mainly from the age of 50 years and above. Male patients were significantly diagnosed with hypertension case of 90 male populations out of total hypertensive patients.
  4. 15 patients were referred for their tertiary treatment in Kathmandu.

Overall the camp was received very well and much appreciated by the locals of the Palpa.
