Cardiac Camp at Pokhara

November 16th 2019

The team from the University of Colorado, Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center, and Jayanti Memorial Trust have jointly conducted a cardiac camp in Pokhara every year. This camp was not only attended by the newer cardiac patients but also by the patients that were previously identified by the same group of doctors in the past years. The team of JMT and MCVTC traveled with the necessary portable screening machine and required medicines with an aim to identify probable cardiac cases and to monitor the participants with a history of cardiac cases.

Thus, during this outreach camp, a total of 582 patients were screened in western regional hospital premises. Among the suspected cardiac cases, Echo screening was performed on 216 patients and ECG was performed on 233 patients. After the ECG and Echo screening, the confirmed cardiac cases were counseled by the expert team of MCVTC and the University of Colorado for further treatment and necessary medications. Furthermore, 24 patients were referred for further treatment in Kathmandu. Also, free medicines were provided to 350 patients in the camp. The prescribed cardiac and non-cardiac medicines were distributed by Lomus  Pharmaceuticals during the camp.
