World Diabetes Day

 The Jayanti Memorial Trust has always been on the fore front to alert the general public on heart health, with this in mind the Trust set up a Free Mobile Diabetes Camp at Bhangal, Mahankal VDC and Chapali VDC on the out skirts of Kathmandu Valley on November 14th, 2014; to commemorate World Diabetes Day. This area was selected for its large indigent community that is unaware about heart health. With the help of Metro Hospital’s technical support, providing two registered nurses Ms. Rajeshwori and Ms. Srijana and glucose meter strips, and ManMohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center that provided glucose meters and its strips, the Free Mobile Diabetic Camp was set up at Bhangal and commenced at 9:00 am till 12:00 pm.

Social Workers Ms.Sangeeta Purkuti and Ms. Prabha Bhujel helped the Trust by going door to door to give the message to the local populace , that came and checked themselves for any traces of diabetes in their system. The Trust’s free Mobile Diabetes Camp Team then headed towards Chapali VDC and set up the Free Mobile Diabetes Camp at 12:30 pm till 5:00 pm.

Total Number of people checked was 283, and out of that number 56 were identified as full blown diabetics, who had no clue that they were diabetics. The Trust gave all the 56 diabetics a card for them to take to Metro Hospital for a free check up that includes Urine/Albumin, ECG, Sugar test, BP and a free consultation with a doctor.
