 For the first time Jayanti Memorial Trust and doctors from Shahid Ganga Lal National Heart Center partnered with other concerned organizations for a Heart Camp along with a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program at Pokhara.

On May 24th,2013 a CME program was conducted by leading cardiologists from Shahid Ganga Lal National Heart Center (SGNHC)at Hotel Bahrahi, Pokhara. The likes of Dr. Arun Maskey, Dr. Rajeev Rajbhandari, Dr. Raamesh Raj Koirala, Dr. Rabi Malla and others took part in the CME with concerned topics; such as Knowledge of Heart Attacks, Chest pain symptoms related to Cardio malfunction, Charity work regarding the heart and so on. On behalf of the Trust, liaison officer for Jayanti Memorial Trust at SGNHC, Urmila Khanal shed light on JMT’s involvement with lower income patients with heart related diseases and the procedures that follow. 55 local resident doctors were present during the CME.

The following day, May 25th, a heart camp was conducted at Kristi Nachne Chaur health post in Kaski district. An estimated 375 to 400 patients showed up to register their names for the free heart camp. Name registration began from 7am till 10:30am. Most of the patients were both elderly male and females, with either high blood pressure or diabetes. Out of all the patients only two qualified and identified for the lower income bracket assistance program. During the heart camp free services like E.C.G., video x-ray (echo), distribution of free medicine and free diabetes check up was done.
