The physicians’ conference on “Intensive Care for Physicians” held on the 22nd October, 2013 parallel to the nursing conference at Hotel Annapurna, Durbar Marg, Kathmandu, highlighted the Nepali and the Mayo perspective on various issues mainly focusing discussion on Reducing Risk for Morbidity Following Cardiac Surgery. The session began with a presentation by Dr. Sheri Crow (Mayo Clinic, USA) on Risk Factors for Morbidity followed by a Case discussion by Dr. Allison Cabalka (Mayo Clinic, USA). Dr. Ravi Baral, Dr Navin C Gautam, Dr Madindra Basnet, Dr. Sidhartha Pradhan, Dr. Anil Acharya, presented a Nepali approach on Chylothorax, Delayed Sternal Closure, Renal Failure, Vasoplegia and Sepsis , respectively, Dr. Sheri Crow, Dr. Allison Cabalka and Dr. Lyell Joyce , highlighted the Mayo approach on the same. This was a closed conference targeting surgeons, per fusionists, anesthetist and cardiologists and was attended by 83 members of the medical fraternity within the Kathmandu Valley.
