Menopausal Women and Heart Disease! Is there a connection?

Menopause isn’t a disease. It is crucial for women to understand that Menopause which is a natural phenomenon needs to be taken care of, thus managed. It’s a natural phase of a woman’s life cycle. It’s important for women, as they approach menopause, to really take stock of their health.

Therefore the Go Red for Women program was designed in a way focusing on the relation between Menopause and Cardiovascular Disease. This program was necessary to inform, educate not just women but also the males to help their spouses, mothers, sisters cope with the changes and stress that comes along with it. Therefore with a focus on Preparing and Managing Menopause the eminent speakers from Metro Hospital and our very own Prof. Dr. Bhagawan Koirala helped the attendees understand the importance of this stage of life. Following were the topics presented:

1.      Dr. Jyoti Bhattarai, Endocrinologist speaking about the stages of Menopause

2.      Dietician Alisha Ulak on Healthy Food=Healthy Life

3.      Mr. Rampukar Sah, Psychologist speaking about Managing Menopause (Coping with the Stress)

4.      Susmriti Bomjam Tamang, National Wushu Player- Tai-Chi with basic movements and exercise for heart and menstrual health.
