 The Jayanti Memorial Trust's "Go Red For Women" campaign commenced in a unique format here in Nepal, with the testing of Blood Pressure, Glucose and BMI on the 20th of August, 2014. A fete held at the Nepal Army Officer’s Club, organized by the Nepal Army Shreemati Sangh to celebrate Teej. JMT with technical assistance provided by NORVIC International Hospital had conducted the free medical checkup while Dr. Bharat Rawat gave a talk to the women present there on Women’s Heart Health, which was well received. A total of 117 ladies were tested. Our campaign concluded on the 22nd of August, 2014 at Durbar Marg. The program commenced from 10 am till 4 pm. Free Blood Pressure and Sugar testing was carried out for all interested women passersby working in/around the neighborhood.

he campaign of this day shall be inaugurated by a few Nepali celebrities, the likes of Sadichha Shrestha, Subexya Bhangdel, Deeya Maskey and the team from the newly released movie Zhingrana, who showed their solidarity for the cause by getting free BP and sugar testing performed on them. The total numbers of women and men tested were 681. Our partner are Hotel Annapurna who has generously provided us the space in front of the Annapurna Arcade, Durbar Marg Development Board, Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center who has provided us with nurses and medical devices as well as Lomus Pharmaceuticals who has provided with the set up of the venue and free drug distribution. The Bank of Kathmandu (BoK) has been generous enough to support the Trust in providing lunch to our nurses and volunteers. Go RedA booth was set up front of the Annapurna Arcade to encourage all women passersby and working in offices/shops in the neighborhood to get their Blood Pressure checked. This is a minor thing but a very important risk factor in inviting cardiovascular disease.S “Make Heart choices, not hard choices!”
